School council

School Council is elected at the beginning of the autumn term. Children from each class are invited to put themselves forward for election. Each class elects one school councillor. The role of the School Council is to meet the headteacher on a regular basis (at least once a month) in order to discuss and consider whole school priorities. Each meeting has an agenda and minutes are collated. School Councillors then report back to their classes so that everyone can put forward their views.

For example, School Council had an important role to play in the design and development of our new junior playground. They consulted their classes, ran a poster competition and met the project designers with the headteacher to agree the final layout.

School Council also show around important visitors, meet governors, support the head and deputy with whole school assemblies, report back to their class on the annual pupil questionnaire etc…
